Twelve participants from the AMECEA Pastoral Institute, Gaba Campus in Eldoret, have been commissioned under the theme “Go and Rebuild My Church,” drawing inspiration from St. Francis of Assisi and echoing the mission of Christ’s twelve Apostles. The commissioning of the 12 follows the successful completion of intensive formation during the 2025/2026 academic year in Catechesis and Evangelization, Pastoral Ministry and Management, and Sabbatical Renewal Programs.

Presiding over the ceremony, the Coadjutor Archbishop-elect of the Archdiocese of Mombasa, Dominic Kimengich, who doubles as the Pro-Chancellor of CUEA Gaba Campus, called on the participants to boldly witness Christ with zeal and be agents of transformation.

Citing Mary Magdalene as a model, he urged the participants to proclaim the Resurrection with courage and conviction.

Archbishop-elect also challenged the 22 candidates who received the Sacrament of Confirmation to live out the gifts of the Holy Spirit through unwavering faith and prayer.

He further rallied the university community to remain steadfast in its values and to take an active role in rebuilding and strengthening the Church, pledging continued support for the growth and visibility of CUEA Gaba Campus and API programs, while encouraging wider collaboration across the AMECEA region.

A student leader, speaking on behalf of the CUEASO and the student body, praised the transformative role of API participants in mentoring and shaping students’ lives. He called for deeper engagement within the student community to fully embrace the rich cultural diversity of the AMECEA region.

Representing the graduands, Catechist Joseph Okullo from Kenya’s Homabay Diocese, currently based in Switzerland, reaffirmed their commitment to the mission. Inspired by St. Francis of Assisi, the graduands pledged to serve God’s people with passion, zeal, and dedication wherever they are sent.

The API Coordinator, Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Chimombo, commended participants for their resilience and perseverance, calling on them to serve as proud ambassadors of API, CUEA, and the wider AMECEA region. In a message underscoring the power of unity, Rev. Dr. Chimombo drew on Psalm 133:1 to remind participants of the strength that comes from working together, and pointed to Philippians 1:6 as a source of assurance that the good work begun among them would be carried through to completion. He expressed confidence that their collective mission would bear lasting and meaningful fruit.

Concluding the remarks, Rev. Prof. Nicholaus Segeja, the Director for CUEA Gaba Campus, invited the campus and its management to emulate the Archbishop’s example, who has demonstrated this developmental mind through the AMANI Centre project for the Catholic diocese of Eldoret.

Graduands were from Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. As a leading centre for formation, the AMECEA Pastoral Institute continues to offer transformative programs in catechetical formation, pastoral ministry, and sabbatical renewal for priests, religious, catechists, and lay faithful seeking spiritual growth and renewal. With ongoing intake for the next academic year, API Gaba Campus stands out as a renowned centre for those called to serve, grow, and lead in the Church.
