The Uganda Catholic Television-UCTV is in the first phase of its establishment and operations with a number of activities being implemented currently to ensure that the success is registered.

With the well laid plans, the UCTV will officially be launched on the 3rd June 2023 on the occasion of the celebration of solemnity of Uganda Martyrs at Namugongo in Kampala- Uganda.

Apparently, the major focus is on generating and creating the contents to be scheduled, identifying those who are talented to work at the UCTV, the activities that will run from now up to the month of October 2023.

Although the TV is currently running its contents on “free- to –air” within the radius of 60 Kms, discussions and engagements are underway between the UCTV management and other partners as service providers so that the television can be hosted and given the channel.

During the recent training for diocesan communicators in Uganda, Rev Fr Philip Odii, the Executive Secretary for Communications Commission of Uganda Episcopal Conference- UEC, disclosed that the station once established fully, it will play important roles in evangelization, Socio-Economic transformation of people in the country among other privileges.

He went on to say that the UCTV project is an initiative that people should join hands to support and to ensure that it comes to successful completion.

Fr Odii appealed for more prayers and support from the people in the country at the time when the church is establishing the national television for the people to be served better.

He went on to remind the communicators that it is their role to ensure that the television station being established is made known to the public beginning from their homes, chapels, parishes and the respective dioceses.

Fr Odii invited the people to be patient since the television project needs more time for those involved to plan and work for development of the project.

The Uganda Catholic Television UCTV is situated with its main station at the Catholic Secretariat in Nsambya-Kampala with other sub-stations being hosted in the ecclesiastical provinces in the country.

For Gulu Ecclesiastical province, the station is being hosted in Lira Diocese and for Mbarara province, the station is being hosted in Mbarara Archdiocese, while for Tororo Ecclesiastical province, it is in Tororo Archdiocese with the equipment fully installed respectively.

The sub-stations in Ecclesiastical Provinces will have also staff recruited like the producers and correspondents among others to ensure that quality contents are generated.

Additional to being on You Tube, currently stickers, t-shirts for the TV are being produced as a way of publicizing the upcoming television to the business fraternity and they are available for the members of the general public on sale.

With its slogan, “Good News for All”, the television station will at the start use English as the official mode of communication due to many dialects spread across the country.
