SOUTH SUDAN: “Women and Girls Must Be Respected,” Charge de’ Affairs at Juba Vatican Embassy Urges Christians

On 18 May, 2023, Charge de’ Affairs at the Vatican Embassy of Juba South Sudan is urging the Christians in Awiel Northern Bahr El Ghazal State to have full respect towards women and girls for the better future.

Monsignor Ionut Paul was urging Christians during his pastoral visit to Northern Bahr El-Ghazal State on Thursday.

Charge de’ Affairs stated that, women should to be respected, citing that anyone who commits offense against women and girls does an offense against God.

“If we don’t respect grandmother, mothers, women and girls of this country then there will be no future for this country.”

He regretted challenges facing women and girls in South Sudan, saying God will strength them and give power to overcome these challenges.

The apostolic Nuncio visited some parishes of Wau Catholic Diocese including Warrap State and Northern Bahr el Ghazal State – Awiel.

Monsignor Ionut Paul on his official pastoral tour arrived on Monday in Warrap State Kuacjok, where he warmly received by thousands of faithful and Minster of Cabinet Affairs.

Ionut Paul appreciated the government of Warrap State for the good reception.

He mentioned that, the aim of his visit to Northern Bahr El- Ghazal is see Christians of Warrap State and also to meet church authorities since he was not able to visit during the Centenary.

“Thank you minister for welcoming us, I’m very sorry not to be able to coming on that Centenary, but here I’m today trying to see with my eyes, to experience the faith of the people, meeting the civil authority, the Church authorities and to have like firsthand experience because one thing is to hear in Juba about Kuacjok, about the Centenary, so it’s good to come and see this area.”

“I congratulate the bishop, he is young and strong so he has a long way to come and you are all young and strong so I’m sure that there will be a good collaboration between the Church and the government of Warrap State.”

Meanwhile the Minister of Cabinet Affairs of Warrap State Amiir Amet Kuol acknowledged the commitment of Monsignor Ionut Paul for visiting’s Warrap State.

‘‘Your present here is highly appreciated and you are welcome to Warrap State thank you so much” she added.

The Apostolic Nuncio planned to pay a visit to the Governor’s office of Warrap state, St. Joseph the husband of Mary in Kuajok parish, St. Peter and Paul Turali, he will also vist St. George Aweil and Kayoungo Parish, St. Joseph the husband of Mary in Mboro and Mary Mother of Mercy in Dem Zubier.
