KENYA: Let us Emulate Christ in our Service to God and Humanity, Archbishop of Mombasa

Rebecca Nzighe Makeo

The most Rev. Martin Kivuva Musonde, the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Mombasa, on Saturday urged Christians to emulate Christ’s example in their service to the Church.

In a sermon delivered during the Bura Pilgrimage on Saturday, Archbishop Kivuva reminded the faithful to be inclusive as they engage in different services both in Church and in the community. He further cautioned  Christians against adopting a position he termed ‘the segregated holy ones’ in the community, but instead serve God and humanity even when they expect nothing.

The function, which was also attended by the Bishop-elect of the Diocese Malindi Monsignor Wilbard Lagho, saw four priests and four deacons receive the Sacrament of Holy Orders. The Bishop-elect who is the immediate former Vicar General of the Archdiocese, thanked the congregants for the support they accorded him during his tenure in the office and asked them to pray for him as he takes up his new role.

The pilgrimage is held annually in the final week of February.
