ZAMBIA: Communications Commission Inaugural Meeting Held

Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishop (ZCCB) has held the inaugural Communications Commission with the aim of it helping the Church communicate effectively.

Speaking when he opened the inaugural meeting at Kapingila House Thursday, 9th May, 2019 in Lusaka, ZCCB Bishop Director for Communication Right Rev. Moses Hamungole said the Bishops’ Conference in Zambia desires to promote different communication activities in the country.

Rt. Rev. Hamungole further challenged all Catholic media houses in Zambia to lead by example in responding to ever changing media landscape in Zambia.

He said it is the duty of the Communication Commission to help bishops and diocesan communication offices to be models of how the Church can benefit from the digital innovations.

Rt. Rev. Hamungole further asked the communication commissioners to help the Church utilize not only the traditional media but take also advantage of the social media and digital media technologies.

He further sent gratitude to the United States Bishops’ Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) for the financial support towards the meeting.

The ZCCB in line with its strategic plan is in the process of establishing commissions. So far Pastoral and Education Commissions have been established.
