Fr.
Lugonzo said that in the past, AMECEA has been operating on Plenary Resolution
to spearhead its activities. However, due to the changing times and the
complexity of situations in the region the Bishops during their last plenary
decided to have a ‘Ten Year’ strategic Pastoral Plan to enhance their
activities in a systematic manner unlike the resolutions which are short term
and deals with immediate issues.

AMECEA
Secretariat was charged with the responsibility of drawing up of the strategic
plan which will be endorsed in the next plenary to be held in Malawi in July
2014. “So far the secretariat has formed a steering committee which includes
members of staff from AMECEA Secretariat and experts from both Catholic
University of Eastern Africa CUEA and Catholic Relief Services (CRS)”, he said
adding that “so far the committee has collected Data through interviews and
questionnaires from across the region. The data will be presented for
deliberations during the workshop, which is a forum for structuring the AMECEA
Strategic Pastoral Plan.”
