Archbishop Benjamin Phiri of Ndola, Zambia, presided over Holy Mass on 18th April 2026 at St. Patrick’s Parish, during which eleven seminarians were formally invested with the cassock, marking an important step in their journey toward the priesthood.

The rite of cassock investiture, a significant moment in priestly formation, signifies a deeper commitment to Christ and the Church, as the seminarians publicly assume a visible sign of their vocation.

Welcoming the Archbishop was the Rector of St. Benedict Major Seminary, Rev. Fr. Brian Mutale, alongside other members of the formation team.

In his homily, Archbishop Phiri reflected on the meaning of the cassock as a sign of a new identity in Christ. He urged the seminarians to wear it with dignity and responsibility, while remaining open to the ongoing process of formation spiritually, intellectually, and morally.

He further encouraged them to cultivate discipline and integrity, emphasizing the need for committed and well-formed priests who faithfully live out their vocation.

The celebration, attended by families, clergy, and friends, concluded in an atmosphere of joy and hope, as the Church continues to accompany these young men on their path to the priesthood.
