The Archbishop of Ndola, Benjamin Phiri, presided over the blessing of a newly constructed chapel and the commissioning of an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at St. Theresa Mission Hospital, marking a significant step in integrating spiritual and medical care in the region.
The ceremony took place on March 21, 2026, with the Archbishop accompanied by senior clergy, including Pastoral Director Fr. Thomas Chunika and his secretary, Nicodemus Mwewa.
The event featured the celebration of Holy Mass, during which the altar was solemnly blessed, and the newly built chapel was dedicated for worship, reinforcing the Church’s role in providing spiritual support within healthcare settings.
Following the Mass, representatives from the government and the Ministry of Health delivered remarks, emphasizing the importance of the new facilities in strengthening access to quality healthcare while addressing the holistic needs of patients.
Archbishop Phiri later blessed and officially commissioned the hospital’s new Intensive Care Unit, describing it as a milestone in the institution’s ongoing mission to deliver improved and life-saving medical services.
The ceremony concluded with a luncheon for invited guests, marking the occasion as both a spiritual and developmental achievement for the local community.
