The Catholic Women Association (CWA) in Malawi has documented its journey from 1972 to 2023 in a new book titled: History of The Catholic Women Organization in Malawi. The book aims to highlight the significant strides the organization has made over the years.

Commenting on the book, Ms. Lucy Vokhiwa, a member of the task force behind the book, emphasized its importance, noting that it serves as a guide for Catholic women in Malawi.

“Reading this book will help you appreciate what CWA has experienced. For us, it’s not just a book; it’s a roadmap to achieving more as we work towards our mission to spread the message of the kingdom of God to everyone through unity and the integral development of all Catholic women (John 17:21),” said Ms. Vokhiwa.

Vokhiwa, who previously served as the National Chair Lady for the CWA, noted that the book also serves as a resource for the Association as it takes a proactive role in sharing the Gospel within the Church and its communities.

The 146-page book features ten chapters, each focusing on different aspects of the organization. The first chapter provides a brief background of the Catholic Women Organization in Malawi, while the second chapter discusses the structures of the CWO at various levels: from Small Christian Communities to the Church, Parish, Deanery, Diocese, and National level.

The third chapter details the organization’s historical development, which has significantly shaped the Catholic Church in Malawi, particularly by promoting the role of Catholic women within the Church.

Jumping to chapters six and seven, the book addresses the Association’s achievements and challenges over the years, respectively, and Ms. Vokhiwa urges readers to buy a copy to learn more about their captivating journey.
