The Archdiocese of Lusaka has held an orientation for priests and Religious on the revised Pastoral Guide, Second Edition, marking an important step in responding to emerging pastoral realities within the local Church.

Vicar General for the Archdiocese, Very Rev. Fr. Andrew Simpasa SJ, explained that the revision was necessitated by “the need to be responsive to emergent pastoral needs in the Archdiocese of Lusaka.”

Fr. Simpasa outlined the comprehensive scope of the Guide, noting that it addresses the Archdiocese’s organizational structure and management, catechesis, sacramental administration, liturgical norms, family life, youth ministry, chaplaincy, religious institutes, and lay associations.

He conveyed the Archbishop’s call for discussions to be conducted “with a spirit of openness and charity,” so that the Archdiocese may “journey together as one body of Christ operating in proximate unison of the Spirit.” Quoting Matthew 5:13–16, Fr. Simpasa reminded the clergy and religious of their vocation to be “salt and light,” living the ministry of Christ “with humility, meekness and humbleness of heart.”

With this exhortation, the Vicar General formally opened the orientation, entrusting the process to the maternal intercession of Mary as the Archdiocese continues its mission of reconciliation and proclamation of God’s Kingdom.
