The Ordinary of the Diocese of Kasese, Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale has officially invited the laity across the world to join and support the diocese as it prepares to lead next year’s June 3rd Uganda Martyrs Day celebrations at the Namugongo Shrine.
Bishop Kibira announced on Sunday, 09th Nov 2025, after presiding over a homily during the Mbarara Ecclesiastical Province Association (MEPA) celebrations at the Uganda Martyrs Catholic Shrine-Namugongo, which the Diocese of Kasese animated at the Namugongo Catholic Martyrs Shrine.
Addressing Christians that filled the shrine, Bishop Kibira said preparations to lead the next year Uganda Martyrs celebration are already in high gear to ensure a memorable and spiritually uplifting event that honors the faith of the Uganda Martyrs, the ancestors in faith.
He also revealed that the diocese has organized a fundraising dinner at the Sheraton Hotel, Kampala, as one of the strategies to mobilize resources for the celebrations.
The Chief Guest at MEPA celebrations, President of the Uganda National Catholic Council of Lay Apostolate, Mr Gervase Ndyanabo, commended the faithful for their commitment, noting that the pilgrimage to Namugongo is not merely a physical journey but a deep spiritual experience filled with hope and faith.
He applauded Rt. Rev. Francis Kibira Kambale and the Diocese of Kasese for animating this year’s pilgrimage with great dedication and devotion.
In his remarks on the forthcoming elections, the Chief Guest urged Christians to be champions of peace, calling on them to promote truth, justice, and dialogue rather than hatred, misinformation, and violence.
Meanwhile, Ms. Solanz Binaisha and Mr. James Bwambale from Kasese and Kitswamba parishes, respectively, testified that the pilgrimage to Namugongo had renewed and strengthened their faith.
