MALAWI: Bishop Chaima Urges Resourceful Laity to Serve Their Communities
Luke Bisani
Bishop Alfred Mateyu Chaima of the Catholic Diocese of Zomba, Malawi, has urged laity blessed by God with resources to invest in ventures that uplift and serve their communities.
Speaking during the blessing of the newly established Inspire Health Clinic in Zomba, owned by Catholic faithful Dr. Kondwani Munthali and his family, Bishop Chaima said such initiatives reflect the Church’s mission of compassion and service.
“Being close to the vulnerable and the sick is Christ’s own mission,” he said. “When we establish hospitals or clinics, we share in God’s mission of healing.”
The Bishop commended the Munthali family for their commitment to delivering quality health care at affordable rates while creating employment opportunities for others.
Before the blessing ceremony, guests were taken on a guided tour of the clinic’s modern facilities. Many expressed satisfaction with the state-of-the-art equipment and professional systems in place.
The event, held at the clinic’s premises, drew dignitaries from the Church, the government, and the private sector, marking the official opening of Inspire Health Clinic.
