The Bishop of Mangochi Diocese in Malawi, Rt. Rev. Montfort Stima, has praised musician Patience Namadingo for constructing three school blocks and an administrative block at Wataka Primary School in the diocese.

During the official opening and blessing of the school blocks this week, Bishop Stima commended Namadingo for his commitment to improving education standards in the country.

In a post on his official Facebook page, Namadingo shared that the project to build school blocks at Wataka Primary School began in May of this year, with an initial plan to construct only two blocks for learning due to the large number of pupils seeking education in the area.

Namandingo explained that, due to community involvement in the construction, he was able to save some funds, which enabled him to add a new block serving as the headteacher’s office, staff room, storage area, and a first-aid room for students.

Namadingo also mentioned that he received a donation of USD 25,321.27 from local well-wishers and diaspora members, which contributed to his initial project budget of USD 71,935.42.

Born in 1989 into a Catholic family, Patience Namadingo is a prominent Malawian gospel and Afro-pop singer-songwriter and philanthropist.

Namandingo came into the limelight after releasing his second studio album, Tili ndi Yesu (We have Jesus), in 2010, which featured the hit “Mtendere” (Peace) and was the best-selling gospel album in the country from 2010 to 2012.
