Missio Aachen has announced its commitment to continue supporting the Symposium of Episcopal Conferences for Africa and Madagascar (SECAM) in its efforts to evangelize the gospel.
During the 20th Plenary of SECAM in Kigali, Rwanda, Rev. Fr. Dirk Bingener, President of Missio Aachen, expressed gratitude for the fruitful collaboration with SECAM over the years and reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to providing ongoing assistance.
“Dear members of SECAM, as you shape your vision for the coming years, I want to assure you of our deep solidarity. The Church in Africa is a gift to the world, and together we will continue to proclaim Christ,” said Fr. Bingener.
He praised the Church in Africa as a beacon of hope for the universal Church, noting the growth in vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
“As a priest from Europe, I am impressed and deeply humbled by the vitality of the Church in Africa and its witness of faith,” he added.
Fr. Bingener also commended the theme chosen for the Plenary, “Christ, Source of Hope, Reconciliation, and Peace,” emphasizing that its powerful message resonates not only within the Church in Africa but also for the world amidst various conflicts and challenges.
Missio Aachen is an aid agency dedicated to supporting local churches in Africa, Asia, and Oceania in their evangelization efforts. Over the years, it has provided significant support to SECAM, including recent assistance for a major conference in Lomé focused on empowering African women religious.
This support facilitated the participation of around 120 sisters from 30 African countries in discussions about the financial situations of local congregations, leadership formation, and safeguarding.
