The Ordinary of Kasese Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale has been described any man who beats a woman other than empower them in this century as ignorant and backward.

Bishop Kibira who commended government for empowering women in Uganda, urged men to jealously protect them and honor their dignity.

In his homily while Presiding over Holy Mass at Kaghema play ground in Kyalhumba Parish yesterday during celebrations to mark the international women’s day, Friday 08TH March 2024, Bishop Kibira warned men against beating their wives an act he said does not only expose their ignorance but also hinders development.

He commended women for their engagement in production for the sustainability of their families than men allegedly wasting time gossiping on trading centers.

Bishop Kibira asked government to continue empowering women with funds to boost their livelihoods but also tasked legislators to deliberate about inheritance laws that would favor women as family heirs.

On his part, the Deputy Prime Minister of Obusinga Bwa-Rwenzururu, Rt. Hon. Edwin Kugonza Bayiringa, pledged to engage Kasese-based lawyers to sensitize the community about the succession law.

On women empowerment, Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale has urged government to prioritize funding savings and credit groups by women for social-economic transformation.

According to the Pastor, women currently contribute more to the economy for being accountable and transparent, compared to men whose expenditure are mostly in non-productive activities.

Bishop Kibira tasked parish priests in the diocese of Kasese to start and support savings and credit schemes by women whom he asked men to empower economically without any hesitations.

The prelate who re-echoed his message of girl-child education warned married women against creating unwanted differences with their mothers-in-law but instead, to act as the bridge of reconciliation and development in their family.

Over 10 million Uganda Shillings (approximately $2,500 US Dollars) was collected towards the new cathedral construction making a total of 30 million out of 98million contribution expected in Kyalhumba Parish.

In a separate interview with AMECEA online, the Bukonzo County East Member of Parliament hopeful, Hon. Edwin Kugoza Bayiringa commended Bishop Kibira for his efforts in pointing to government the concerns of the people of the Rwenzori region. He asked the people of his constituency for mindset change by electing lobbyists and politicians connected to the central government if they were to equally share from the national cake.
