UGANDA: Diocese of Kasese Receive New Health Facility

In fulfilling the healing ministry of Jesus Christ, the Diocese of Kasese officially received St. Joseph Moscati Wasinjya Yesu health center-Kyaminyawandi from Rev. Fr. Peter Basaliza Mubunga, the executive Director.

This comes three months after the official opening of the first Catholic owned hospital in the diocese of Kasese funded by the friends from Germany “TOGETHER” and the government of Germany, Bishop Kibira said it is the responsibility of the Catholic Church to keep the integrity of instituted founded on the foundation of Jesus Christ.

In his homily while presiding over Holy Mass at the Health facility premise before the handover ceremony on 15th Feb 2024, the Ordinary of Kasese, Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale who called for transparency and accountability, pledged total commitment and hard work to the development of the facility he said was in line with Christ’s Mission of physical and Spiritual healing.

The Prelate who announced a free medical camp at the facility by specialized medics from Mt. St. Mary’s hospital in Kasese, later argued the general public against self-medication which he partly blamed for a number of medical challenged.

The chief funder of the health facility under Maria Ecuchi, Mr. Claudio told the Bishop that he sold one of his houses to fund the construction of the storied building at the site, before asking the Ordinary for his burial space near the statue of Mother Mary at St. Joseph Moscati health center.

Bishop Kibira commended Mr. Claudio whom he said sacrifices one of his houses in Italy to fund the construction one of the biggest health facility in the diocese which he diocese pledged to handle according to cooperate governance responsibility

Rev. Fr. Peter Basaliza, the outgoing executive Director commended the Diocese of Kasese for allowing the facility operate in her territory under his supervision thus, asking the Bishop to fill the legal gaps at the health facility.

Later, Bishop Kibira asked the Diocesan Health coordinator Fr. Richard Sausi Businge to quickly constitute a new board of Governors as the administration part will be carried out by the medics from the congregation of the Little Sisters of the presentation of Mary in the Temple.
