UGANDA: Evangelization is a cardinal role of every cleric-Bishop Kibira

The Ordinary of the Diocese of Kasese Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale has reminded priests of their cardinal responsibility of spreading the Gospel to the whole world.

Bishop Kibira said the Church exist on four pillars including evangelization, education, health and social development and through priest and religious at the centre of its fulfillment as it is written in the Gospel according to Mathew 28,16-20.

He said priests have also the task of keeping the presence of Jesus Christ in the world through the Blessed Sacrament and helping the believers to develop economically and spiritually.

Addressing guests most of them Christians shortly after thanksgiving for Fr. Peter Basaliza Mubunga’s Silver Jubilee celebrations of priesthood and the ten years since the inception of the Immaculate Consumption of Mary-Kitswamba Parish in the Diocese of Kasese, Saturday 25th November 2023, Bishop Kibira who appreciated the celebrant for his time as a priest, asked priests to prioritize evangelization by keeping the presence of Christ available to all.

The Ordinary commended Fr. Peter Basiliza whom he described as one the treasures the diocese has following number of developmental including St. Joseph Moscat Wasinjya Yesu Clinic, fundraising for schools and church among others.

In his homily during mass presided over by Fr. Fedius Bwambale asked Christians to invest much in education which he described as a garden they will later in future harvest from at their old age.

Rev Fr. Peter who asked Christians to surrender to Christ, saying it’s Christ’s love that has enabled him through the twenty-five years in priesthood thus, asking his colleagues in God’s service to pick a leaf.

He urged fellow priest especially parish priests and head of commissions in dioceses to make life easy to their curate and assistant respectively, saying it’s a role of every priest to make priesthood loveable and enjoy in creating humble environment for others.

He warned young priests against engaging in acts that will distance them from the love of God and the vows made before the alter of Christ but rather live an exemplary life for the young generation in seminaries to be inspired by them for continuity.

On his part, the Rwenzururu King His Majesty Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma congratulated Fr. Peter for the twenty-five years of priesthood, praying that the Ordinary of the Diocese of Kasese maintains him as the chaplain to the Kingdom.
