Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale, Ordinary of the Diocese of Kasese, has reiterated his call for parents and guardians to focus on guided parenting that promotes education and catechism to fight ignorance and poverty as well as laying a strong foundation of faith.

Bishop Kibira attributed the increase in failed marriages and academic challenges among the young people to failure by parents to fulfill their obligations that are pledged before the Altar during the baptism of their children.

In his speech shortly after presiding over holy Mass where he confirmed 355 and opening a Eucharistic centre at St. Immaculate Catholic Church- Katooke in Rukoki Sub County, Bishop Kibira attributed the increasing cases of domestic violence, land conflicts and suicide in Kasese district to ignorance as a result of the limited education among many communities in the district.

Known for his developmental ideas and campaign against laziness, Bishop Kibira encouraged the planting of avocados, following a German national’s establishment of an ointment factory in Kasese that requires the produce as a raw material.

In his homily Bishop Kibira quoted the Message of the Holy Father on the grandparents’ day that emphasizes the need of teaching Catechism to children at an early age, saying grandparents have a role to install Church values and norms into their grandchildren.

Kibira warned the intending couples against choosing beauty than character and faith or else, marriages and the Church of God are at stake seeking for intercession of Mother Mary and her spouse St. Joseph for good parenting.

The Prelate challenged women in marriage whom he described as a strong pillar and manager of a family to be with more wisdom than knowledge, using rightly the common sense than books in bid to have orderly families and raise children in a proper way of life.

The Kigoro Sub-Parish Head of Laity, Mr. Paul Agaba called for the need of establishing a catholic founded secondary school in the area as way of fighting ignorance among the young people who travel long distance for education.

The Kasese Cathedral Parish rector, Rev. Fr. Joseph Kirungi, described the visit of the Bishop whom he said had spent over seven years without reaching at Katooke as a gift to the local Christians who will be receiving the Eucharist every Sunday following the instillation of Eucharistic center.

Earlier, Bishop Kibira commended the family of Mzee Bruno who had offered four acres of land to the diocese of Kasese to carry out developmental activities.
