UGANDA: Diocese of Kasese hosted the Provincial Bishop’s meeting

Mbarara’s Archbishop Lambert Bainomugisha has emphasized that the lay faithful work very closely with the clergy for spiritual, social and economic development in his ecclesiastical region.

Most Rev. Lambert said this as the Diocese of Kasese hosted the provincial Bishops’ Meeting for Mbarara Ecclesiastical Province.

Mbarara Ecclesiastical Province which is among the Catholic four provinces in Uganda covers five dioceses in western Uganda including Mbarara Archdiocese and the Dioceses of Kabale, Kasese, Fort Portal and Hoima.

The meeting which was held Wednesday 11th October 2022 at the Bishop’s Hall in the Diocese of Kasese was attended by His Grace Archbishop Lambert Bainomugisha who chaired the meeting, Rt. Rev. Robert Muhirwa Akiiki the Bishop Fort-Portal Diocese, Rt. Rev. Callistus Rubaramira the Bishop for Kabale Diocese, Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale Bishop of the Diocese of Kasese.

Speaking to our reporter at Uhuru 50 Gardens in Kasese town shortly after the meeting, Most Rev. Lambert said the summit was aimed at laying developmental strategies for the Province.

Archbishop Lambert said the reason to why they held their provincial meeting in the Diocese of Kasese is that the Province originates from Rwenzori Vicariate and Kasese District is the base of Rwenzori Mountain.

Most Rev. Lambert also expressed his condolence to Provincial Bishops and the mudslide incident which affected the people of Kasika Village, Rukoki sub-county in Kasese district, asking people of good well to contain extending the hand of help to the victims.

Meanwhile, Rt. Rev. Kambale of Fortal Diocese hailed the Diocese of Kasese for the establishment of a new Centenary Bank building and Kasese Guide Radio, saying the Radio is doing a great work of evangelizing the whole person.

Bishop Muhirwa who is also the Vice Chairman for Uganda Episcopal Conference said meeting as Bishop gives them time to share and find solution on the challenges affecting the region spiritually, morally and socially.
