The Cultural and the political leaders in Lango sub- region have commended the Catholic Church for the outstanding contributions in promoting holistic education in the area.

This was disclosed by a section of cultural and political leaders who joined the congregation in receiving and welcoming the Apostolic Nuncio in Uganda His Excellency Luigi Bianco to Lira Diocese particularly in Dokolo district where he celebrated the Eucharist on the first day after his arrival in Lira Diocese.

They say that since the arrival of the Mill Hill Fathers and Comboni Missionaries, the Catholic Church laid a firm foundation in promoting education of the mind and heart of the people through schools established in the area.

This, according to them, has helped mitigate ignorance among the people of God in the area –  the reason why people should continue embracing and supporting the system of quality education introduced by the Church.

While receiving the Papal Nuncio to Dokolo, Honorable Cecilia Barbra Atim Ogwal, the district Woman representative to the National Parliament of Uganda affirmed the contribution of the Church in providing holistic education to people in the area giving reference to her late father who then was educated by the Mil Hill Fathers although he was a total Orphan.

Speaking on behalf of all the members of parliament from the district, the law maker pledged to continue working together in collaboration with the Church in addressing challenges hindering access to quality education in Lango sub region.

Apart from promotion of education, the local leaders also commended the Church for the quality Health Services being offered to people of God in the area.

According to the leaders, they are grateful to the Church for the various Health facilities strategically established in the area where various kinds of Health services are being offered to ensure healthy population of people in the area.

Besides Health facilities, the leaders also recognized the contribution of the Church in promoting social welfare of the people through services being provided by Caritas, the development arm of the Church.

They observed that, the Church has continued working to guide the people to improve the House Hold Economy through poverty mitigation programs in a move to remain self-reliant in their communities.

The local leaders pledged to continue working in collaboration with Church so as to be the light to the people they lead and transform their communities.
