The Archbishop of Mbeya Archdiocese Most Rev. Gervas Nyaisonga has called upon all Christians in the country to pray the Holy Rosary to end war between Russia and Ukraine.

Archbishop Nyaisonga made the remarks recently during a diocesan pilgrimage held at St. Augustine’s Parish in Mbeya Archdiocese.

He said the Rosary has a history of more than 100 years ago where the Blessed Virgin Mary recommended people to recite the Holy Rosary for peace in the world, “he added.

One among the Fatima secrets referred to the prediction of the immense damage that Russia would do to humanity by abandoning the Christian faith and embracing Communist totalitarianism.

The three children Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta said that in the apparition on June 17, 1917, the Virgin said to them: “I shall come to ask for the Consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart. If people attend to my requests, Russia will be converted and the world will have peace.”

He noted that Russia and Ukraine need to be consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the war shall end.

He insists every Christian not to ignore praying to Mother Mary to cleanse Russia and Ukraine.

He alerted Catholics who have chances to pray the Holy Rosary to be serious on his request, pointing out that the serious consequences can happen if developed nations intervene in the ongoing on war for it will also cause immense damage to developing nations.

It is time now to recall and adhere the Fatima message given by Mother Mary to pray for peace in the world.

We need conversion among nations for we are being weakened by disasters.

Innocent children, women and aged die during war, many are homeless while living miserable life. The Holy Rosary shall change the worse into calm situation,” he insisted.

Archbishop Nyaisonga who is also a President of Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC) said that the Virgin Mary finds comfort and joy when she sees people praying the Rosary.

He reminded Catholics to set a schedule for reciting the Holy Rosary individually or in groups to request Mother Mary to pray for the world especially cleansing Russia and Ukraine.

He warned those who    persecute Virgin Mary through false faith. He wants Catholics to pray for their conversion.

Most Rev. Nyaisonga disclosed that Pope Francis will consecrate Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the Vatican announced on 15th March 2022.

The Holy See press office said : “On Friday, March 25, during the Celebration of Penance at which he will preside at 5 p.m. in St. Peter’s Basilica, Pope Francis will consecrate Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.”

“The same act, on the same day, will be carried out in Fatima by His Eminence Cardinal Krajewski, Apostolic Almoner, as envoy of the Holy Father.”

Cardinal Konrad Krajewski was one of two papal envoys sent to Ukraine last week in an expression of the Pope’s concern for the war-torn country’s population.

March 25, 1984 was the day in when Pope John Paul II consecrated Russia and the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It is also the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord.
