The Archbishop of Juba Catholic Archdiocese on September 07, 2021 called on the faithful to join Legion of Mary. This he said during the commemoration of the centenary of Legion Mary.

Archbishop Stephen Ameyu Martin stated that the Legion of Mary plays a very great part in sanctifying family and the sick.

“The Legion of Mary plays a very important role in sanctifying our families, prisoners,  people who are sick,” the Archbishop stressed, adding that the movement is for all Catholic believers.

“This is not a movement for mothers alone; it’s the movement for fathers, daughters and all members of the Catholic Church in the Region. If some men are still sleeping, look at Mary: she is your mother and all of us must be committed to this apostolate.”

Most Rev. Ameyu says Mary is the most elevated woman and full of grace because her son Jesus Christ could not allow her to be contaminated and all the Christians should follow Mother Mary in their lives.

“The Church celebrates this feast because the son pre-existed the Mother and the Mother is the purest, most elevated woman, full of grace. This is so because the son could not allow her to be contaminated.  This is why we call Mary the Immaculate Mother because she was free from sin.”

He added that through the Legion of Mary, she continues to do her work of visiting the sick in the hospital, the prisoners, and move from house to house with holy rosary.

“You are the people whom Mary uses to do her mission of visitation, her mission of going to see people who are elderly; those who are in difficulties and through this apostolate of the laity we have experience a lot of changes in the whole churches.”

He appealed to the Christians to join the movement because it can transform the Church.

“We must recruit more people to this movement of the Legion of Mary. It’s the movement that can transform our church. If you pray through Mary you are going to change this world, you are going to change your families

The centenary celebration of the Legion of Mary was celebrated under the theme; “In diversity, we are united” at St. Theresa’s Cathedral in Juba.
