MALAWI: Covid-19 Should Be Treated As An Opportunity, says Bishop Tambala

As time is fast racing to October, an extraordinary month for further spreading of the Gospel of the Lord widely known among Catholics as Mission Month, the Catholic Church in Malawi has asked its faithful to view the upcoming month as an opportunity to evangelize more people about Christ.
Speaking in an interview ahead of the month and specifically the day, October 18, the Bishop of Zomba Rt. Rev. George Tambala says Covid19 which has disrupted normal life of Malawians in several aspects should be taken as an opportunity by Catholics in Malawi and World all over to find diverse means of reaching out to many.
Bishop Tambala says the month which is being celebrated in two years in a row under the global pandemic Covid19 should be used to mobilize Christians to speak about their faith.
“The Holy Father Pope Francis is emphasizing that the context of Covid19 is an opportunity for us to see within the Covid experience to reach to others with our works but also the word of God,” said Bishop Tambala.
Bishop Tambala also added that the Missionary Sunday has seen growth over the years adding that it is part of the fruits being reaped from the seeds of faithful.
On his part, Pontifical Missionaries of Malawi National Director, Father Vincent Mwakhwawa encouraged Christians to show love as they prepare for the big day.
“It is my sincere hope that Catholics in the country will take the upcoming month as a seed to grow the Church,” said Fr Mwakhwawa.
World Mission Sunday was first established in 1926 by Pope Pius XI.
This year’s theme is we have no choice but to speak of what we have seen adapted from Acts 4 verse 20.
