MALAWI: Catholics Are Being Sent to Speak of Their Faith

Bishop Musikuwa- Diocese of Chikwawa

On the path to October 17 which happens to be this year’s Missionary Sunday, Bishop of Chikwawa Diocese Rt. Rev. Peter Musikuwa has called on Catholics to stand firm and spread the word of God to others.

Bishop Musikuwa in an interview said the Missionary Month offers a rare opportunity to evangelize to others.

He added that the Church is challenged at the moment amidst Covid19.

“ We are strained as Church at the moment as churches have to fend for themselves and spread the word to the ends of the word. This has been the case because the pandemic has affected ability to raise funds and help other churches. The pandemic is in another words telling as to stand on our own,” said Musikuwa

The Catholic Church in Malawi launched the preparatory journey to Missionary Sunday in July this year.

World Mission Sunday was first established in 1926 by Pope Pius XI.

This year’s theme is We have no choice but to speak of what we have seen adapted from Acts 4 verse 20.

Malawi has over 4 million Catholics from 8 Dioceses.
