By Bethlhem Tadesse

On Saturday, February 6, 2021, the Vicariate of Hosanna  celebrated the blessing of St. Joseph Catholic Cathedral with a Holy Mass and magnificent ceremony.

The ceremony was honoured by the attendance of Cardinal Berhaneyeus Metropolitan Catholic Archbishop, H.E. Antoine Camilleri Apostolic Nuncio to Ethiopia and Djibouti, bishops from different dioceses, priests, sisters, parishioners, zonal, Woreda government officials and distinguished guests.

At the ceremony, Cardinal Berhaneyeus said that St. Joseph was righteous before God and the guardian of the Holy Family. Therefore, naming the Cathedral of the Vicariate of Hosanna after St. Joseph is a great blessing for the ministries in the parish and to the parishioners, especially for Catholic families.

He also said that it is a double grace that His Holiness Pope Francis has declared the current year to be celebrated as the year of St. Joseph and year of the family and that an annual celebration be celebrated every year on the 1st of May.

The next day, on Sunday February 7, 2021 all bishops celebrated Holy Mass in different parishes in the Vicariate where they met the people serving in the Church.

The bishops and their delegates also visited Schools, Health and care centers in the Vicariate.

The Vicariate of Hosanna is one of the vicariates where many Catholics are inhabited.
