Monze Catholic Diocese Bishop Moses Hamungole has disclosed the development after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the contractor Three RT Investments, on Thursday, 10th December, 2020 in Lusaka.

Bishop Moses Hamungole has described the signing of the MoU as an important milestone of the dream that started in 2015.

The new Cathedral will have a sitting capacity of more than 1000 people.

Rt. Rev. Hamungole has also disclosed that the initial cost of the construction of the Cathedral would be 800,000 US dollars with further 200,000 USD for furnishing.

The Bishop has since thanked all that contributed money and in kind towards the Cathedral construction and further appealed to those that are yet to honour their pledges to do so.

And speaking before the MoU was signed, Bishop Moses Hamungole urged the contractor to do a good job.

Meanwhile Three RT Investments Managing Director Pak Ryong pledged to do a good job.

The Government of the republic of Zambia donated for the project over a five-hectare piece of land to the Local Ordinary, Bishop Moses Hamungole.

The new Cathedral project aims at responding to the growing needs of the community of Monze where “we have observed that as the local population increases, the number of vulnerable persons also grows,” Bishop Hamungole explained.
