Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) and other Church Mother bodies have called for unity of purpose among Zambians in an effort to address COVID -19.

The ZCCB, Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia and Independent Church of Zambia at a joint press briefing held at the Catholic Secretariat at Kapingila House in Lusaka 28th March,2020, pledged to work with government in the fight against Coronavirus.

ZCCB General Secretary Father Cleophas Lungu said the Catholic Church will remain proactive and put its energy to prayers as a preventive measure against Covid-19.

Father Lungu disclosed that the church will adhere to the measures instituted by government to suspend church gatherings.

He said the issue of Coronavirus should not be politicized as the pandemic has come as a huge shock to Zambia and is adversely reversing economical gains.

Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia chairperson Bishop Paul Mususu said the church should speak with one voice in encouraging people to seek both medical care and divine intervention.

Meanwhile, Independent Churches of Zambia Board Chairperson Bishop David Masupa disclosed that the church is advocating government to enforce a lockdown in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.
