SOUTH SUDAN: Vatican’s Foreign Affairs Minister Visits Juba

The Vatican’s Secretary For Relations with States arrived in Juba on Thursday to acquaint himself with the situation of South Sudanese people.

Most Rev. Paul Richard Gallagher told the press in Juba that he will meet leaders of the Catholic and other churches and top government officials including President Salva Kiir.

He said Vatican is keen to see practically what different national and international media houses have been reporting about South Sudan.

The Secretary of Relation of States said the Holy See wants to deepen its relations with South Sudan.

He said the Pope wants leaders and people of South Sudan to work for peace and unity in the young country.

Archbishop Paolino Lukudu Loro of Juba, Bishop Erkolano Lodu of Yei, Bishops and Apostolic Administrators from the Sudan and South Sudan received Archbishop Richard at Juba Airport.

Government dignitaries, a number of priests, sisters, brothers, Legion of Mary and choirs participated in his reception.
