The Zambia Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) convened its National Council Meeting for Diocesan Directors from March 13–16, 2026. The four-day gathering was hosted at the Kasisi Retreat Center in Zambia’s capital, Lusaka.

Delivering his report during the meeting, themed “One in Christ, United in Mission,” the PMS National Director, Rt. Rev. Edwin Mulundu of Mpika Diocese said that the PMS National Office, despite waiting for the appointment of the new Director, continued to foster the missionary spirit and praxis in line with its missionary mandate across the Dioceses of the Catholic Church in Zambia.

“The PMS National Office continued to carry out important responsibilities in line with its missionary mandate,” the Bishop said to the 10 PMS Diocesan Directors and the National Holy Childhood Coordinator, pointing out that “these (responsibilities) included missionary animation in the eleven dioceses of the country, participation in international meetings of the Pontifical Mission Societies, and the administration and distribution of funds from the Universal Solidarity Fund as directed by the PMS International Secretariat”.

The National Director asserted that particular emphasis on missionary animation across the dioceses in Zambia was placed on the preparation and celebration of World Mission Sunday, World Day of Prayer for Vocations, and Epiphany Sunday.

The Prelate affirmed that these missionary animation initiatives positively increased contributions to the Universal Solidarity Fund in Zambia.

Meanwhile, participants presented their reports, highlighting successes, challenges, and plans for missionary animation and formation activities in their respective Dioceses of Zambia.

The PMS Zambia National Council Meeting was also spiritually marked by the daily celebration of Holy Mass and communal prayer of the Liturgy of the Hours. The entire time at Kasisi Retreat Centre was for the Directors an experience of the spirit of missionary cooperation and fraternity.
