The Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Zomba, Rt. Rev. Alfred Chaima has pleaded with the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) soldiers at Kobbe Barracks to lead by examples of the Catholic Church’s faith and teachings.

Speaking during the Eucharistic celebration at Holy Family Kobbe Barracks Church last Sunday, Bishop Chaima asked the church members, who are mostly soldiers, to lead by example in their families and at workplace.

“Use the Catholic faith and its teachings to shape your behavior right from your families and at your place of work,” said Bishop Chaima.

The ordinary members of Zomba Catholic Church also applauded the soldiers for taking on a reading role in church activities and for putting God first in their lives through prayer, besides their demanding profession in the military.

Bishop Chaima then asked the Catholic faithful to help in the implementation of the strategic plan of the diocese which was launched in the diocese recently, and to help in the conservation of nature through participation in tree planting.

The Holy Family Church, an out-church of Charles Lwanga Parish, has a population of over 800 Catholics, most of whom live within the barracks. The church has active groups that help serve the out-church at the parish and diocesan levels.
