UGANDA: Plans for Water Project Underway in Kasese Diocese, Uganda

The bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Kasese, Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira has called for collaboration and massive support for his plans to supply the dry parts of Kahokya in Kasese district with clean and safe water.

Kahokya is one of the sub-counties in the district that has experienced water scarcity for years, with little intervention of the government yet in the one of the food basket in the region

In his speech shortly after presiding over Holy Mass at St. Francis Kahokya Vocation Secondary School in the Lower Zone of St. Peter and Paul Kitabu Parish, Bishop Kibira announced plans for solar pumped water flow scheme that would serve the secondary school and the neighboring community whose living conditions have been hard over the unreliable dirty water in the area.

Bishop Kibira who called for prayers over this plan, called for seriousness by the local leadership and community members who will not only benefit but also have the responsibility to protect the water source that will have a number of electric equipment.

The bishop of Kasese who has done similar projects in others areas including Buryasungwe in Kitagwenda district and Kiburara said despite the area having no electoral power but he will see means of pumping water with solar power
