ETHIOPIA: Abba Teshome Fikre, Re-appointed Secretary General for Bishops Conference of Ethiopia

During the 55th Plenary Assembly of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Ethiopia (CBCE) in July 2023, the member Bishops approved the second term service of Rev. Abba Teshome Fikre, as the Secretary General of the General Secretariat of Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Ethiopia.

According to the official letter received from the Conference, Rev. Abba Teshome will continue his second term to serve from September 1, 2023, to August 31, 2027.

Based on the statutes of the Bishops’ conference, the term of office of the secretary General is four years. Rev. Abba Teshome has served since 2019 and will continue for the second term.

The General Secretariat is united in prayer for Rev. Father Teshome and wishes him all the best for his future service.

In the letter signed on Wednesday, August 30 by His Eminence Berhaneyesus Demerew Cardinal Souraphiel of Metropolitan Catholic Archdiocese of Addis Ababa and the president of CBCE, the Bishops appreciate the work done by Abba Teshome in the previous term of four years saying, “We are so grateful for all the efforts you put to serve the Conference and the Church. We count on you and we assure you our prayers and support.”
