The Archbishop of Juba is calling on Caritas Archdiocese of Juba to promote Social justice as they reopen their office which has been down for over 2 years.

“If we neglect social justice, then there will always be poverty rampant in our presence, “Archbishop Stephen stressed.”

“The second thing is the question of promoting social justice. In fact, social justice is important for each and every one of us to really deal with it because it’s the source of poverty. If we neglect the social justice, then there will be always poverty rampant in our presence.

He urged Caritas of Juba Archdiocese to promote social justice so that the poverty can go away.

He appeal to Caritas of Archdiocese of Juba to also focus on education across the Archdiocese of Juba as they officially reopen their office.

“It’s also important that the Church in social wing ensures that there is access to education. As we all know, the Archdiocese of Juba is very big and it has been there since this diocese was established.”

Access to education should be a right for all people who are living in Juba or in the archdiocese and this is the only way we can elevate poverty, “He added.”

The metropolitan Archbishop of Juba Ameyu said one of the most important objectives in the Church is social justice.

“There are two main pillars for the Church, one is the pastoral wing and social wing, the part of social wing is where many of the human problems are in, and I would like to invite you all our partners to review what we are doing in Juba or in South Sudan because some of these elements or objectives that the Caritas Archdiocese of Juba is taking on its shoulder are almost the same elsewhere with any NGOs.”

Ameyu added that, without the help of social wing in the society, the poverty can’t be elevate from people.

He encouraged Caritas Archdiocese and its partners to work together in order to elevate the human suffering in Juba and South Sudan at large.

“We are here this morning to reconstitute or for reopening Caritas Archdiocese of Juba again after a very long time of not operating in the midst of the looming humanitarian crisis affecting our people in the Country. For us it has been a setback all along such a very important part of the church remaining an-operational although we keep serving our people through the parishes.”

Bishop Laku stated that Caritas Archdiocese caries a lot of responsibility of people which needs more support specially the influx of returnees and refugees from Sudan.

He added that the system of the Church is more open to the needy because of the vocation and the natural setting.
