UGANDA: Joy and Excitement at the Launch of Uganda Catholic Television in Lira Diocese

The official launch of Uganda Catholic television-UCTV has generated excitement and joy among the general population in Uganda and beyond.

On 3rd June 2023 the occasion of the solemnity of Uganda Martyrs, the UCTV which is an initiative of Uganda Episcopal Conference (UEC) was launched by Chairman of Uganda Episcopal Conference at Namugongo in the presence of the congregation.

Meanwhile on 5th June 2023, cooperate launch was also conducted, the move that Christian congregations, civil authorities, political leaders appreciated the bishops for their initiative of establishing a Catholic TV in the country that will help to promote evangelization and socio-economic transformation of the people in the country.

With its main station situated at Nsambya in Kampala, the UCTV substations have been installed in Mbarara Archdiocese for Mbarara ecclesiastical province, Mbale for Tororo ecclesiastical province and the next substation is in Lira diocese for Gulu Ecclesiastical province respectively.

In Lira Diocese where the substation has been installed, Christians have received with joy and excitement the news about the development.

Among the Christians are the categories of business fraternity who observe the coming of Uganda Catholic television as a platform that will enable them improve their commercial activities.

Some Christians while sharing with AMECEA correspondent pledged to offer the necessary support needed for the successful operations and broadcast of the new television project in unique programs like daily Masses, the breakfast show, lunch time show, news, the children’s liturgy, and customized talk shows in prime times.

In Lira Diocese, arrangements are underway to carryout outreach activities among the people in the parishes to ensure that they support and own the new television.

The Uganda Catholic television is on ZUKU TV with the channel 0074 and it is expected to attract many cooperate business companies with its well programming set according to the needs and the demands of the growing population in Uganda.

Accordingly, the Uganda Catholic television is set to produce and disseminate quality content from all over the country with the national character, hence the installation of substations in all ecclesiastical provinces in the country.

Additionally, Uganda Catholic television also seeks to form the human person in his or her entirety, addressing the spiritual, moral, social and economic needs of the people.

Apparently, there are thousand promoters of Uganda catholic television spread across all the 19 dioceses Uganda and the number is expected to grow steadily.
