UGANDA: Newly Ordained Priests in Lira Diocese Urged to Preach Peace in Homes

Four priests were on Thursday ordained in Uganda’s Lira Diocese in a celebration presided over by the Rt Rev Sanctus Lino Wanok.

The newly ordained are Frs Francis Otim from Blessed Sacrament Aber parish, Denish Okello Odyek from St Peter Sub parish Anai, Ceaser Okello from Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary parish Bala, and Leo Ocen from St Leo the great sub parish Boroboro respectively.

During the rite of ordination, Bishop Wanok reminded the newly ordained priests that it is their duty to take the word of God to all and to their homes and not only those who go to church.

He further instructed the new priests to preach what unites the Christians and encourages them to help build church and just society.

The bishop emphasized that the pastoral mission of the newly ordained priests should focus on encouraging the formation of many small Christian communities.

The ordination of the four priests were on Thursday attended by Christian congregation, cultural leaders, civil authorities and the political leaders in the region.

Significantly the ordination of four priests occurred on Thursday a special one being the day of the institution of the Eucharist and that of priesthood that Jesus Christ performed.
