Bishop Kibira Kibira With Priest At The Cathedral

Jesus Christ is the pillar of the Church who Priests need to cleave on if they were to positively respond to their vocation.

In his homily while presiding over Chrism Mass at out Our Lady of Assumption Cathedral Kasese Diocese in Western Uganda, the Local Ordinary Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira said Priesthood is empty without the Eucharist where Christ offered himself into.

Before the Chrism Mass on 04th April 2023, Bishop Kibira said the Diocese decided to be holding Chrism Mass on Tuesday instead of Thursday to room for Priests to prepare for the Holy week Mass and Easter.

Bishop Kibira later asked the Priests to fully invite Christ since they had reaffirmed their promises of service during Chrism Mass which included consecrating blessing the oils of the sick, for Ordination and for catechumen.

The Pastor who later described himself as most sinful and requires prayers, reminded the Lay faithful to pray for the Priests to fulfill their Eucharistic obligations as assigned to them by the Lord.

According to the Kasese Diocesan Vocations Director, Fr. Joseph Tumusiime, Chrism Mass should remind couples of their obligation to review their marriage vows so as to leave a friction free and blessed marriage.

Earlier during the same Mass, Bishop Kibira asked Christians to have respect for Holy Mass by being attentive and to desist from cellphone use which divert the congregations’ attention.

Bishop Kibira later argued Christians against backbiting and judging priests who are human but to pray for them to fulfill their Eucharistic obligation.

He also reminded priests to ably prepare before praying for anybody requesting for their interventions.

Ms Stella Mugume, an Anglican who said she was attending her second Chrism Mass, asked Christians to assist Priests in fulfilling their obligations by Whispering to them when they appear diverted because they are people of the flesh.
