The Bishop of Uganda’s Lira Diocese Rt. Rev Sanctus Lino Wanok has implored Religious men and women to work for unity among their family members and the close relatives.

Speaking on the occasion of the funeral Mass of the late Rev Sr. Emma Ayaa Ginyakol of the Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church (MSMMC) on Monday 20th February 2023, the bishop mentioned that the Religious, much as they are working to proclaim message of salvation to others, it is important that they work to unite members in their families, relatives and the clan at large.

According to Rt. Rev. Wanok, a Religious man or woman is called and sent to the world to serve as a witness of Christ, and that they are to begin preaching from their homes in a move to ensure their family members and close friends are living in union with God.

He further noted that the Religious should not forget about their relatives and that they should be concerned about their spiritual and moral growth among them so as to strengthen their faith, confidence and relationship with God.

Bishop Wanok particularly said the Religious should use their annual canonical holiday they get usually to visit their families and relatives to ensure that their lives are spiritually well shaped.

The Bishop further stressed that it is not proper for a religious to embrace Christ alone as a witness but that they are to make their family members also embrace the faith unceasingly in a bid to see the reign of Christ.

“Do not come to Christ alone, but unite your family members and make them to walk in the light of Christ”, said bishop Wanok to consecrated men and women.

The Bishop challenged the clan chiefs that they ought to play their roles responsibly in promoting unity that people they lead can embrace.

He urged clan heads and their members that it is their obligation to make their homes the place for promoting prayers, peace, love and forgiveness amongst themselves.

He then appealed to the congregation gathered to always be in solidarity with the consecrated men and women in their various ministries.

The bishop concluded that it is timely for the world to remain focused and lovingly live mercifully following the word of God in order to move in the right path, and concentrate on development.
