UGANDA: Bishop Kibira Urges Parents to Motivate Their Children to Join Church Movements

Animators and parents have been called upon to mobilize and sensitize the young people about the importance of joining Church movements as well as teaching them love, peace and joy among them.

Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale the Ordinary of the Diocese of Kasese who officially closed the Diocesan Missionary Childhood celebrations Music and Dancing Competition where Kyalhumba Parish emerged the winner, asked parents and guardians to allow and motivate their children especially young boys to join church movements after observing that the limited number of males could in future affect the Church.

Bishop Kibira congratulated the Missionary Childhood upon reaching the day where they came together to evangelize through music, dance and drama, later asked parents and guardians to groom children as peace ambassadors and educationists in Kasese district for future generation than staying in misery.

Meanwhile, the Diocesan Coordinator for Pontifical Mission Society Rev. Fr. Augustine Byaruhanga urged the Missionary Childhood members to practice what they have preached through music. He further asked parents and guardians to support their children in the new project to donate towards a shutter for the new Cathedral as requested by the Bishop.

Speaking on behalf of parents, Mr. Benson Baritazari Kule the Commissioner of High Education Standards in Ministry of Education asked his colleagues and fellow parents to lead by examples in instilling good morals and discipline among children.

Mr. Baritazari said Missionary Childhood evangelization helps the children to become God fearing, to grow as responsible children and to build strong foundation for their faith. He then advised parents to live an exemplary life and allow their children join various church movements.

On his part, Kyalhumba Parish Missionary Childhood chaplain Rev. Fr. Andrew Kato attributed their parish’s success to the determination of the animators and the parents who kept the children guided since the previous competition.

During the competition which was organized under the theme “You will be my witness to the ends of earth”, Kasese Cathedral, Ibanda emerged the second and third respectively, followed by Kakone, Nyakahya and Kasanga in their fourth, fifth and sixth positions in that order.

Other parishes were, Kabuyiri, Hima, Nsenyi, Kitwamba, Kyabirikere, Bukangara, St. Francis Kidodo, Kitabu and Katwe among others.
