The World Family of Radio Maria has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Diocese of Livingstone to operate diocesan Mosi-o-tunya radio as Radio Maria Mosi-o-Tunya.

The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Livingstone Right Reverend Valentine Kalumba, OMI, has noted that Radio Maria Musi-o-tunya is of great spiritual benefit to the Church in Livingstone.

Speaking in his keynote speech during the official launch of Radio Maria Musi-o-tunya, Friday, February 4, Bishop Kalumba observed that the radio station will help revamp Catholicism and promote the Catholic faith, resulting in helping the faithful draw closer to God through programs and other spirituality promotions.

He observed that the Radio will also promote devotion – a spiritual practice he noted is dying in certain parts of the Church adding that the radio station will benefit most Catholics.

“I`m very hopeful that through evangelization on radio, many Catholics will return to the Church, and I feel it will be a moment of conversion for some who do not really understand our Catholic faith,” added Bishop Kalumba.

And Boniface Bahati, the representative of the World Family of Radio Maria in Africa expressed excitement that radio Maria Musi-o-tunya will become one of the successful radio stations in Africa.

The World Family of Radio Maria has since pledged technical support and continuous capacity building of staff in the operationalization of the Station and its vision.

According to a report by Josias Muuba, Radio Maria Zambia President Kelvin Mwitha announced that the technical support which will be provided to radio Maria Musi-o-tunya will help leverage coverage challenges which the station has been battling in covering the radius of 200 Kilometers.

The partnership between the World Family of Radio Maria and the Catholic Diocese of Livingstone started as far back 2020.
