ZAMBIA: ZCCB Loses Another Catholic Communicator to Death

Zambia has lost another Church Communication expert, Fr. Benedict Mwelwa Ng’andwe who until his death was Chief Executive Officer of Ndola Catholic Diocese’s Radio Icengelo, member of the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops Communications Commission
(ZCCB – CC) and newly elected president of Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA)-Zambia.

Announced this sad news on Tuesday June 8, 2021 the bishop of Ndola Diocese Rt. Rev. Benjamin Phiri said that Father Ng’andwe collapsed and died at the hospital where he was rushed for medical attention.

His death comes a few months after the church lost Bishop Moses Hamungole who was ZCCB Bishop Director for Communications and Fr. Charles Chilinda, SJ. Who was Loyola Studios and TV Director.

And Catholic Media Services (CMS), which is the umbrella organisation of Catholic run media houses in Zambia and the communication wing of the Catholic Church in Zambia, is deeply saddened by the demise of Fr. Benedict Mwelwa Ng’andwe.

“The Communication ministry of the Catholic Church in Zambia has again lost a vibrant and committed member. Indeed, we shall greatly miss Fr. Ng’andwe for his dedication and contribution to the growth of the Church media in our country,” said CMS Executive Director Fr. Winfield Kunda.

On behalf of the ZCCB Bishop Director for Communication Rt. Rev. Bishop Valentine Kalumba, OMI, Fr. Kunda has since sent condolences to Radio Icengelo Board, the staff, the Diocese of Ndola and all the listeners of Radio Icengelo.
