UGANDA: Lira Diocese Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited For Roles Out Economic Empowerment

Lira Diocese Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society Limited has started implementing strategic development plans in a bid to promote economic empowerment and social transformation among the population in Lango sub-region.
This was disclosed by the Chairperson of the Cooperative Mr Patrick Abal when asked to comment about the current status of Lira Diocese Multi-Purpose Cooperative Limited since the inception in the year 2019.
Abal noted that arising from the resolutions in the recent Annual General meeting held in the month of March 2021, so far, a number of activities are being implemented.
According to Abal, the Cooperative has started lending out money to the members who get by expressing the interest in order to start business. He said currently also, formulation of the parish coordinators committee in the parishes are ongoing as well as recruiting new staff members are under way among other activities.
He went on to say that other arrangements are in high gear to start the poultry farm in a move to boost the production of the local breed in Lango sub region.
According to Abal, through co-operatives, people have the chance to gain knowledge in financing, accessing better markets, education, health and living in harmony among others.
He disclosed that its time that people should head towards the path that will make them easily assist one another, cooperate in business enterprises and achieve together.
Abal is optimistic that the coming of Lira Diocese Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society Limited, will lay avenue for the members to create wealth and make Christian families to remain self-reliant.
He implored the members of the public to join the Cooperative in a bid to reduce house hold poverty.
Currently one can join Lira Diocese Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society Limited at affordable membership fee of approximately $8,54 USD (30,000 UShs).
The cooperative was in 2019 formed by Rt. Rev. Sanctus Lino Wanok, the Bishop of Lira diocese to empower Christian families so as to enable them support their children while meeting other basic needs.
