ZAMBIA: Fr Mulandu Appointed New Bishop for Mpika Diocese

Pope Francis has appointed Rev. Fr. Edwin Mulandu, 52, of Ndola Diocese as Bishop of Mpika Diocese.

The Apostolic Nuncio to Zambia and Malawi H.E. Archbishop Gianfranco Gallone disclosed the appointment on April 24, 2021.

Fr. Mulandu did his priestly formation at Emmaus Spirituality Centre, Lusaka, from 1990 to 1991, at Mpima Major Seminary from 1991 – 1994; and at St. Dominic’s Major Seminary from 1994 – 1998.

Fr. Mulandu has served in several parishes in Ndola Diocese as Cathedral Administrator, Parish Priest, Diocesan Financial Administrator and he is the current National Director for Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS).

Ordained priest on 4th August 2000, Fr. Mulandu holds a Master of Philosophy Degree in Applied Ethics. He is also a Licentiate member of Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).

In a statement to the media, ZCCB Communications Secretary Fr. Winfield Kunda on behalf of the Zambia Conference’s, Secretary General, Rev. Fr. Cleophas Lungu and all the Catholic faithful wished the clergy, Religious and lay faithful of Mpika all the best as they receive their new Shepherd Monsignor Edwin Mulandu.

Very Rev. Father Justin Matepa has been the Diocesan Administrator of Mpika Diocese after the demise of Rt. Rev. Justine Mulenga on 20th March,2020 at the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka.
