Catholic Diocese of Ndola Bishop Benjamin Phiri has implored members of staff in the Church to be honest, committed, loyal and efficient.

According to Radio Icengelo, the Diocesan radio station, Bishop Phiri said workers of the Diocese should be unique because they are at the centre of the local church in spreading the Gospel.

Speaking in his homily when celebrating Mass for the Ndola Diocesan Curia and staff in the Cathedral of Christ Thursday, 29th April,2021, Bishop Phiri said people working for the Church are unique.

“We are not just workers as you would find at a market or in an industry or in some of these public offices. We are at the centre of the local Church here so in the governance of this Church we have the personnel, who are serving the local Church so that the work of God might be spread. It is very sad when in a Church institution one of its ‘civil servants’ is found perhaps to be cheating or stealing. Those are things that should be far away from us because our service is a testimony,” he preached.

“We should bear witness to the Christ whom we represent. This witness should be seen in the manner that we discharge our duties. We should discharge our duties as if Christ himself is the one who has sent us to do what we are required to do,” Bishop Phiri said.

“Let us pray today that God grants us the graces that we need in order to offer a service wholeheartedly and with the passion knowing that we are serving the Lord in the service that we are discharging in our office. Let this be our prayer,” Bishop Phiri concluded.
