ZAMBIA: ZCCB Acquires 5 Oxygen Concentrators For Its Hospitals

With financial support from Medicine for Humanity, Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) has secured 5 Oxygen concentrators for its 4 medical facilities.

The oxygen concentrators have been secured at the cost of 7,763.47 US Dollars.And speaking when the 5 Oxygen Concentrators were delivered to the Secretariat for onward delivery to the beneficiary hospitals, ZCCB National Health Coordinator, Sister Matildah Mubanga thanked Medicine for Humanity for the help.

“We went into partnership in 2017 with Medicine for Humanity. And since then we have seen improved service delivery in health institutions that have benefited so far,” she said.

She said that the equipping of health institutions will help in quality health delivery to the over 182,225 people.

“For example, Minga hospital had one working oxygen concentrator, which was been shifted to Out patient department and the wards, so with the acquisition of this oxygen concentrator the burden is reduced,” Sr. Mubanga said.

She further added that ZCCB plans for acquire portable Xray and Ultra sound machines.

“When we buy acquire portable Xray and Ultra sound machines, it will reduce the cost associated with referrals to other hospitals,” she noted.

The hospitals to benefit from this gesture are Minga, Kanyanga,Muzeyi and St. Benedict. They are al in Chipata Diocese from the eastern political province.
