H.E President Edgar Lungu, with the Archbishop of Lusaka Most Rev. Dr. Alick Banda

President Edgar Lungu who attended the 80 Years Jubilee Celebrations of St Charles Lwanga Catholic Church of Regiment Parish in Lusaka Archdiocese on Sunday 19th January 2020, has urged the Church to venture in income generating activities that will help meet the needs of their people.

The President said it is imperative that the Church engages in income generating activities to fund their programs especially now that support from outside is dwindling.

The Head of State said such ventures will help in complimenting Government efforts in meeting the needs of the people such as health and education.

He said while it is the responsibility of the State to provide for the people, resources are becoming scarce, making it difficult even for Government to meet the needs of all people.

On his part, the Archbishop of Lusaka Most Rev. Dr. Alick Banda thanked God for the years the parish has existed, saying that 80 years is a long time to develop a rich history of a Christian people.

The Oak Jubilee celebration was held under the theme, “Baptized and Sent: The Church on the Mission, 80 Years of Evangelization at Regiment Parish (1939 – 2019).”
