SOUTH SUDAN: St Theresa Parish Trains Catechists On Child Protection

St. Theresa Parish of Reconciliation recently organized a one day workshop for twenty five catechists from four parishes of Rumbek Catholic Diocese.

The training aims at empowering the catechists with the Word of God so that they may play their role in guiding and protecting children from any kind of abuse in their different locations.

In an exclusive interview with Good News Radio on December 19 the Parish Priest of St Theresa Mission of Reconciliation Fr. Augustine Ekeno said that child protection is paramount because they are the future leaders.

He warned parents and guardians against beating children like animals.

Also speaking during an exclusive interview with the Radio, Samuel Manyang, one of the Catechists who benefited from the training, said that children are the future of South Sudan and so they need to be protected from any harm.
