Catholic Church in Uganda is mourning the death of Bishop Barnabas Harim’imana, the Bishop
Emeritus of Kabale Diocese who died on Sunday 3rd Jan 2016 afternoon
at Nsambya hospital where he was admitted.
Bishop Barnabas R. Halem’imana was laid to rest at Kabale Cathedral on
Wednesday 6 Jan 2016.

Bishop
Harim’imana was appointed and consecrated by
His Holiness Pope Paul VI at Kololo on 1st August 1969. He was consecrated alongside
with Bishops Albert Edward Baharagate, Sarapio Bwemi Magambo and John Baptist
Kabubi.

was the first native Residential Bishop for Kabale Diocese to take over from
Bishop Gervazio Nkalanga (A Bishop from Tanzania who was appointed and sent to establish a new Diocese in
Kabale in 1966 in Uganda as Apostolic Administrator. Bishop Nkalanga also died on 18 December 2015.)
