SOUTH SUDAN: SCBC Catholic University gets New Vice Chancellor
The
Catholic University of South Sudan has a new Vice Chancellor. Rev Dr Fr. Mathew Pagan Daniel Padiet
from the Diocese of Malakal who replaces Fr. Michael Schultheis, a Jesuit
Missionary from US who was the Vice Chancellor since 2008.
Malakal. He was appointed as the Vice Chancellor by the Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference on May 30, 2013.
Fr. Mathew was ordained a priest on April 22nd 2001 – at St. Joseph’s Parish in Malakal Diocese (South Sudan).
His pastoral experience has been as follows: Between the year 2001 – 2004, he was member of the Diocesan Pastoral Team – Rector of St. Joseph Minor Seminary; Supervisor of St. Lwanga Catholic School and Assistant Parish Priest Malakia Parish . He was appointed Diocesan Pastoral Coordinator 2010 – 2013.
His Educational background is as follows: St. Lwanga Catholic School – Malakal – Upper Nile State – 1986 – 1990; Comboni Secondary School – North Kordofan State (Sudan) El Obeid – 1990 – 1994. St. Paul’s Major Seminary 1994 – 2000. Kobar – Khartoum (Sudan). Urbaniana University in Rome 2004 – 2010.

- Doctorate (PhD) in Church Law (Canon Law) – Urbaniana University in Rome 2010.
- License in Church Law – Urbaniana University in Rome, 2007
- Bachelor in Theology from St. Paul National Major Seminary, 2000
- Diploma in Theology – St. Paul’s National Major Seminary, 2000
- Diploma in Philosophy from St. Paul National Major Seminary 1996
- Certificate of Inter-University Course “The emergence of the cultural rights” from “L’Istituto Internazionale Jacques Maritain” St. Thomas Aquinas Pontifical University, Faculty of Social Sciences, 2009-2010.
- Diploma in Philosophy, St. Paul National Major Seminary, Khartoum, Sudan, 1996 (Bachelors Equivalent).
The
Catholic University of South Sudan has two campuses: One in Juba and another in Wau. Since its
establishment, two graduation ceremonies were held so far for students from Faculties
of Economics and Business Studies from Juba Campus.
first group from the Faculty of Agricultural studies from Wau Campus will
graduate this year.
