The
Tanzanian Episcopal Conference (TEC) has a new secretary General. Rev. Fr.
Raymond Saba from Kigoma diocese takes over from Rev. Fr. Anthony Makunde who
has faithfully served the Secretariat for the last seven years.
Fr.
Makunde’s second term expired in July 2012 but the Conference asked him to stay
and mentor the incoming Secretary General; a task which he has performed for
the last one year. Fr Saba was initially heading the Pastoral department of TEC
as well as being the Deputy Secretary General.
Other
new office bearers include Rev. Fr. Gallus Marrandu CSSp who is now the new Deputy
Secretary General and will also be heading Pastoral Department. He was initially
heading the Staffing and Inter-Religious Dioalogue departments, which will now
be headed by Rev. Fr. Benedict Shemfumbwa from Tanga diocese while Rev. Fr.
Liberatus Kadio from Same diocese will be Youth Coordinator for the Conference.
