\nThe
\nSecretary General for the Association Members Episcopal Conferences in Eastern
\nAfrica (AMECEA), Fr. Ferdinand Lugonzo has expressed satisfaction over the way
\nMalawi is preparing for the July, 2014 AMECEA Plenary Assembly to be held in
\nLilongwe, Malawi. <\/p>\n

\nLugonzo said this when he attended a Preparatory meeting by the main organizing
\ncommittee on 14\/12\/2013 at Catholic Secretariat in Lilongwe, Malawi in which a report of the preparation was presented by the Committee\u2019s
\nChairperson Mr Peter Kulemeka.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nAccording
\nto Kulemeka, all the Committees entrusted with various roles are working hard
\nto achieve their goal by the end of the day.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n\u201cThe
\nrole of the committees which are comprised of the Clergy, religious men and
\nwomen and the laity is simply to reflect on the anticipated requirements for
\nthe conference and the upkeep and well-being of the delegates. The scope of the
\ncommittee\u2019s roles include: identifying suitable conference facility,
\naccommodation and transport for delegates, undertaking publicity activities,
\narranging for liturgical, security and protocol services and mobilizing resources.
\nI therefore feel we are doing enough on all these scopes, \u201csaid Mr Kulemeka.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n

\ntold the meeting that the Plenary will be held at Bingu International
\nConference Centre, President Hotel in the City of Lilongwe.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nHe
\nsaid the venue has been recommended as it is conveniently located in the centre
\nof the City of Lilongwe and has the facilities required for the conference.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nOn
\nPublicity activities, Mr Kulemeka briefed the meeting that the committee
\nresponsible has prepared a Communications Strategy to guide them.<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n

\n\u201cPress
\nReleases and a Press Briefing on the AMECEA Plenary have been published and
\nannounced by media houses in Malawi. By now almost every Malawian and Catholic
\nChristians in particular are aware of this great event coming next year,\u201d he
\nsaid.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe
\nother Committee that presented its reports was the Finance and Fundraising.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe
\nCommittee briefed the meeting that it estimates that the conference will cost
\nabout $400,000 and as a way of raising the funds, the Episcopal Conference of
\nMalawi had asked Catholic Christians to support the realization of these funds.<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n

\na number of fundraising activities which included; Dinner, Gospel Bash have
\ntaken place.<\/div>\n

\nMeanwhile,
\nFr. Lugonzo who was accompanied by the AMECEA Communications Secretary, Fr. Chrisantus
\nNdaga has challenged the Committee to remain focused for a successful
\npreparation ahead of the Plenary.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nMalawi
\nwill host the 18th AMECEA Plenary from 16th to 26th
\nJuly. About 300 delegates from the member countries which includes the host
\nMalawi, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and
\nZambia are estimated to attend the.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\nThe
\ntheme of the plenary is \u201cNew Evangelization through True Conversion and
\nWitnessing to Christian Faith\u201d.<\/div>\n
